What the heck am I doing!?

I created this blog at one in the morning last night.  That’s how all good ideas are formed, right? I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. I wouldn’t even consider myself a writer. I don’t necessarily get joy out of writing. So why am I doing this? Because I feel the need to say things and I figured why not share it with the vast world wide web. Good idea? Feel free to chime in with how crazy I am!

In all honesty, I’ve had the idea to create a travel blog in my head for a few years now. I started reading a few travel blogs a couple years back and fell in love with them. Well, more in love with travel. But I loved the idea of getting to travel whenever and wherever you wanted, while working for yourself and for no one else. I was a tax accountant at a local CPA firm, and was working six or seven day weeks during tax season. Reading travel blogs was a good outlet for my stress at the time.

And counting down to April 15

So if I wanted to create a travel blog, why didn’t I? Well, I haven’t really traveled as much as those travel bloggers have. Sure, I’ve spent time in Hong Kong one summer, and did a week stint in each China and France. But other than those three countries, I’ve only been to states in the USA and neighboring Canada.

A weekend Stateside trip

So instead of a travel blog I decided to create a generalized blog. There’s many “lifestyle” blogs out there, so I guess you could call this one of those, with a sprinkling of travel and other random thoughts. I’m also switching careers and doing a full-time MBA program, trying to start my own business, and hoping to transition into a digital nomad/freelance lifestyle. I like to call it my quarter-life crisis (yes, I am one of those).

The pathway to the unknown (so cheesy)

My hope for this blog is that a) I actually write some blog posts and b) that I gain one or two loyal followers (and perhaps friends!?) who can commiserate and rejoice in our journeys which may or may not be similar; or completely different! I am outgoing and enjoy getting to know and talk to people from all over – so please feel free to reach out and get in touch with me, I’d love to hear from you!
